Julian Hong, MD, MS is an Associate Professor in Radiation Oncology and the Bakar Computational Health Sciences Institute at the University of California, San Francisco, and core faculty in the UCSF–UC Berkeley Joint Program in Computational Precision Health. He serves as Head of AI at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and Medical Director of Radiation Oncology Informatics. His research focuses on the development, validation, and implementation of machine learning and artificial intelligence in oncology, with an emphasis on translating electronic health record and multimodal data into clinical deployment. He specializes clinically in the treatment of prostate cancer and completed radiation oncology residency at Duke University. He received his MD from the University of Wisconsin and BS in Biomedical Computation and MS in Bioengineering from Stanford. He is board certified in radiation oncology and clinical informatics and is a Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association.
